Depending on the actual situation and load requirements, design of each project, we will flexibly apply many construction techniques to ensure the highest efficiency.
Instructions for installing fiber cement board for ceilings
Nowadays, ceilings made of cellulose fiber cement panels meet high aesthetic requirements, moisture resistance helps your house become more luxurious, more durable, it can also soundproof, insulate, prevent mold and is friendly to the environment as well as human health.
Construction of load-bearing frame system
- First, you need to determine the exact height of the ceiling.
Then, use a rivo or laser to get the height of the wall.
Next, you need to mark the necessary positions, you should mark the points to note under the ceiling and then determine the location of the wall trim with ink.
Fix the wall trim to the wall according to the height you have learned initially because this is something that needs to be sturdy.
To make sure the wall trim is secure, screw or nail it but with a distance of no more than 0.3m.
Note that the distance between the maximum hanging point is from 1m-1.2m and the distance from the wall to the first point is 0.4m.
For concrete ceilings, you can drill directly into the ceiling and then expand 8 or 10 holes.
Next, use an 8 or 10 threaded rod to connect to the points you just drilled and cut the threaded rod to suit the height of the ceiling.
Finally, arrange the main bars to match the direction of the threaded rod, the standard distance is 1m-1.2m.
Install the main bar and the previously hung threaded rod with screws 8 or 10 to hang above and below the main bar.
When the main bar is stable, install the secondary frame, the standard distance is 0.46m, the secondary bar is connected to the main bar with the available notches on the main bar and the secondary bar pin.
After installation, adjust the bars so that the ceiling frame is flat. Then check the ceiling height again with a laser or level tube for effective construction.
Adjust the ceiling frame and place the cement board on the ceiling frame.
After aligning the ceiling frame, you can install the panel on the frame, place the length of the panel perpendicular to the accessory bar, connect the panel to the frame with screws. The panels need to be installed staggered to increase the load-bearing capacity. The distance between the screws is divided equally from 30 – 40cm.
Rough treatment of ceiling surface
- Join the cement ceiling panels together to create a flat surface, leaving a gap between the 2 panels with a distance of 2 – 3 mm.
Treat the gaps between the 2 cement panels with specialized glue and paper tape or mesh tape.
Mix Matit putty with water to construct the panels.
Note: must mix well and slowly until the mixture is not lumpy.
Use the mixture just mixed to putty on the cement panel
Note: do it over and over again to achieve the best quality. Should roll the putty diagonally at a 45 degree angle to the ceiling.
After evenly plastering on the cement panel, wait until it is completely dry and then use 150 or 180 sandpaper to make the ceiling surface smoother, without any bumps when plastering.
Finishing construction of cement board surface paint
- Use a damp cloth to wipe the surface dry and clean.
Apply a coat of primer and wait for it to dry. The primer is intended to create a flat surface for the subsequent coats and increase the durability of the panel surface.
Apply a topcoat: water-based paint or acrylic paint to smooth the surface and wait for the paint to dry.
Apply a second coat. When painting, wait for each coat to dry before applying the next coat to avoid paint cracks.
Instructions for installing fiber cement board as partitions
Wood fiber cement panels are used for indoor and outdoor wall projects with light material requirements, fast construction progress, and do not greatly affect the structure of the project such as office partitions, fireproof partitions, heat-insulating partitions, water-resistant partitions, etc.
Before construction, you need to prepare the following tools:
Cement panels with a thickness of 4mm, 4.5mm, 6mm, 8mm, 9mm, etc.
Zinc frame or can replace iron frame if the partition requires high load-bearing capacity.
2.5cm or 3cm drill screws
Electric drill, plumb bob, construction accessories, etc.
Some technical requirements before construction.
Construction of partitions with cement panels must ensure that they fully meet safety requirements according to the correct technique.
Determine the exact installation location of the skeleton
When installing the skeleton, it must be installed in the correct size and technique.
Cement panels when installed on the frame must be staggered to ensure stability. Nails and screws must be shot accurately in the right position, without chipping the panels.
Construction of indoor partitions
- Determine the position of the horizontal bar on the floor and ceiling (check with a plumb bob and check the perpendicularity of the horizontal bar to the wall), the deviation between the 2 bars is not more than 2 mm, the gap between the bar and the floor/ceiling is not more than 5 mm.
The two horizontal bars are fixed to the ceiling and floor with D6mm spacers. Fix each bar with 4 cap screws, the distance between the screws is 500 mm.
Install the vertical bars on the horizontal bars, one end of the vertical bar is 6÷10 mm from the ceiling, the vertical bars are placed vertically perpendicular to the horizontal bars fixed to the ceiling, floor with a distance of 610mm (or 48cm) according to the width of the cement board (1m22 wide x 2m44 long).
Check the flatness of the vertical bars by using a horizontal string and checking the gap between the string and the bar. Fix the bars with cap screws or rivets. Reinforce the vertical frame if the distance from the wall to the ceiling is too long.
To stabilize the partition frame, we should install horizontal connecting bars, the distance between the bars is 61cm.
After completing the partition frame, we must wait for other components such as electricity, water … to be installed before installing the cement board into the frame.
Use 4mm, 4.5mm or 6mm boards depending on the specific requirements of each project.
The cement board is installed from the floor up and at least 3mm from the floor to avoid moisture.
When installing the first layer of cement wall on the frame, the screw distance along the edge of the board is 200mm, the center of the board is 300mm. The second layer is installed staggered with the first layer 1 frame step of 61cm (or 48cm).
Instructions for constructing outdoor partitions
The outdoor partition wall made of cement board uses a load-bearing steel frame inside, the two outer surfaces can be covered with cement board with a thickness of 8mm to 10mm, then the joints are treated. The finished product looks like a real brick wall, very sturdy and aesthetic.
Soundproofing and fireproof materials can also be added to the partition wall to enhance the function of the outdoor partition wall made of cement board.
Prepare 1220 x 2440 cement board from 8mm – 10mm corresponding to the area.
Arrange pipes and install electrical and water equipment in the design.
Design the iron frame to suit the function and specific requirements of each project (strictly follow the technical construction requirements of the manufacturer).
The distance between the vertical bars in the cement wall is 61cm or less depending on the design requirements of the wall system.
The vertical bars are connected to the horizontal bars by horizontal ribs. Tightly weld the horizontal bars to the vertical bars
The distance between the horizontal bars is 122cm
Assemble the cement panels onto the pre-built steel frame, the bottom of the cement panel is 1cm from the floor. The cement panel can be placed horizontally or vertically (upright). Install the cement panel from the bottom first, gradually going up.
Place the edges of the cement panel 3-5mm apart to have a gap to insert glue to treat the joints. You can use additional insulation panels inserted between the 2 panels in case the design requires the construction of a thermal insulation partition.
Proceed to treat the cement panel joints by inserting expanding rubber foam underneath or using joint treatment powder or silicone to fill the gap (Expanding foam used must be suitable for outdoor conditions).
Use waterproof silicone glue or specialized waterproofing chemicals to treat the waterproofing at the contact points between the cement panel and the rubber foam to fill the expansion joint. After treatment, make sure the joint is completely waterproofed.
Finish the partition surface with water-based paint or wall foam, or decorative tiles.
Instructions for installing wood fiber cement panels as load-bearing floors
Choose cement board with suitable specifications and thickness
This is the first and quite important step that affects the quality and load-bearing capacity of the entire project during construction. Depending on the purpose of use as well as the load-bearing capacity and specific characteristics of each project, we use the appropriate thickness of the panel. You can refer to the load-bearing capacity table below before starting to construct the cement panel:
For boarding houses and civil houses: use cement board with a thickness of 12mm – 14mm – 16mm.
For warehouses – office buildings: use cement panels with a thickness of 18mm – 20mm
Structural design of cement board installation frame system
The structure of the frame system for installation when constructing cement panels is also quite simple, depending on the new construction or renovation status, the area of the project and the internal load requirements, the purpose of use, we design the frame system appropriately to ensure maximum quality of the applied structure.
Instructions for constructing cement panels for civil floors, fake cast attic floors
For small houses such as rented rooms or attics, we can use 5×10 cm square iron, reinforced to form a frame system with a distance between two beams of 41 – 48 cm.
- Determine the floor size and floor height.
Cut 50x10cm square iron bars (Cut the square iron bars 15cm longer than the width of the house for a 10cm thick brick wall)
Punch holes in the wall measuring 5.5x11cm. The distance between the center of the holes is 407mm
The distance from the floor to the mezzanine floor is usually 3m.
Place the 50x10cm square iron bars on the wall panels.
The square iron bars will be placed on each side of the wall 7.5cm.
Temporarily weld the ends of the 50x10cm square iron bars on a flat surface and fix the position to ensure safety.
Fill the wall panels with cement mortar. Make sure the iron beams are on a flat surface.
Weld the secondary bars to the horizontal bars.
Depending on the load-bearing capacity of the floor, the distance between the secondary bars will be different. Normally, 5x5cm or 4x8cm square iron bars can be used as secondary beams.
Refer to the floor load bearing table in the technical instructions for cement board construction catalogue.
After installing the iron frame system and applying anti-rust primer. We can use cement boards with a thickness of 12mm – 14mm – 16mm placed on the iron frames.
The cement boards need to be arranged alternately to increase the efficiency of the floor frame.
The gap between the boards is 2-3mm to prevent the expansion of the board.
Use 4cm long self-drilling screws to screw the board into the iron frame.
The distance between the screws at the edge of the board is 20cm, in the middle is 30 – 40cm.
Each board should be screwed at least 20 to 30 screws to ensure the technique.
Treat the gap between the boards: use specialized joint treatment glue to prevent dirt or water from leaking down.
Install wooden floors, imitation wood plastic floors or tile to complete the floor surface.
Proceed to close the recessed frame below to cover the square iron bars and decorate.
Install stairs and railings to complete the house with a mezzanine floor made of cement panels.
